Product Description

MIL-PRF-16173 Grade 1 is an dark colored, high melting point, resilient coating designed to provide long term protection of metal surfaces. MIL-PRF-16173E Grade 1 is applied as a solution in a volatile solvent. The residual film, after solvent evaporation, is firm and highly resistant to salt water and salt spray.
MIL-PRF-16173 Grade 1 is supplied ready to use to simplify handling and application of the product.

INTENDED USE: 
Long term protection for all metallic surfaces in the most corrosive of environments (eg. international shipments, maritime/dock equipment, etc.)  This product provides extreme protection.  
For protection of metals when exposed for extended periods to outdoor weather conditions.  For general purpose preservation, indoor or outdoor, with or without cover, for domestic and overseas shipment where a dry-to-touch film is required.

APPLICATION:  
MIL-PRF-16173 Grade 1 can be applied by dipping the parts to be protected in a vat or spraying the parts to be protected with air sprayers, pump type sprayers or by pouring the product over the parts. Ensure uniform consistency prior to use.  Recommended surface preparation: surface should be clean, dry, and free of rust, oil and mill scale. 

REMOVAL:
Removal of protective films is accomplished by using a steam cleaner or washing the parts in mineral spirits, solvent thinner, vapor degreaser, or hot alkaline wash..
